Burton asked me the other day in the car... "Mom, why didn't the leprechaun come this year?"
The leprechaun comes every year and leaves a little surprise at our house every year but this year. In past years, he has left a messy trail of confetti, paper clovers stuck to walls, green treats, stickers... it usually isn't much but he ALWAYS leaves something!... except for this year.
I glanced over at ron and Yikes... I forgot that the leprechaun was suposed to come... I told Burton that "I have no idea what happened to him this year" ... "Burton do you believe in the leprechaun?"
Burtons had no reply
Then Ron piped in... "You know Burton, the Easter Bunny and the Leprechaun are really good friends, and you said the other day that you didn't believe in the Easter Bunny anymore. Maybe that is why he didn't come."
"Oh" was Burton's only reply.
Oh, I am a horrible mom... I forgot all about having the leprechaun come this year. And then blamed it on my son not believing... I am going straight to Hell!
I got out the green clothes for everyone to wear, bought a couple of crazy green hats from the dollar store, even had my toes painted green. But I forgot the most important part... THE LEPRECHAUN!!!
I hope that the Easter bunny can make up for the leprechauns lack of respronsibility!
OH, THOSE DARN LEPRECHAUNS CAN NEVER BE TRUSTED!!!

I love that you'e done the Leprechaun, even if you did forget this year. I wouldn't have even thought about it. Very cute!
Story of my life. :) Once the tooth fairy forgot to come to our house, not 1 night but 2 nights in a row. Braydon was heart-broken and I felt like mother of the year. He did luck out though, I felt so guilty he got double the cash for the tooth. :)
He forgot your house too. Well he must of had that nasty flu going around ;) I forget those things all the time. So you just joined the club!!!
candace! you are the best! The only HELL you're going to is self-imposed mother guilt-hell. we all make it there at least once a week, I'm sure. Love the tradition. the confetti trail sounds cute.
LOL. So funny!
This is almost as bad as the tooth fairy at our house, who is tired and distracted and desperate for bed, and sometimes forgets to wait the extra 45 minutes for the kids to go to sleep and make her way upstairs.
(~face burning with embarrassment and shame~)
I'm just lucky that when I say, "There must have been tons of kids who lost teeth with you yesterday! That poor tooth fairy has probably tattered her wings trying to keep up!" Dolly just feels bad for the tooth fairy and patiently puts the tooth back.
Now you're in trouble!! Hehe. Since my boys don't believe in the Easter Bunny or Leprechauns (see, I'm the worst one!! I ruin all their fun), I made sure they did NOT talk about the Easter Bunny at all while your kids were here. It sounds like you have some fun traditions.
